We are committed to providing an inspiring and nurturing environment for every one of our students, and a space for them to develop and thrive.

Whether your child wants to explore performing arts as a hobby or as a potential career choice, we have a range of different training and classes to suit their needs.

We have a number of different programmes and classes to inspire them to achieve their potential. All of our staff are highly experienced and qualified in the Performing Arts, and are passionate about providing LBA students with the most current, effective training in dance, singing and drama.

We are one big family at LBA, and are here to support our students at every hop, skip and leap of their journey with us.

Learning and Growing at La Belle Arts

when your child comes to la belle arts, they become part of our lba family; a place to grow and develop skills at every age.

their journey can start right from the beginning with our babybelles group – learning age appropriate and fun ways to express themselves through dance, song and performance. during their time with us, they will have the opportunity to move all the way through the ranks up to our avance group for ages 13 and above.

each group is offered a range of different class options so your child can explore their passions and find the talent best suited to them.

We motivate each and every one of our students to reach their full potential. We provide a constant support to inspire them on their journey and encourage regular performance opportunities for them to shine.

Create

We promote self-confidence and belief at LBA, encouraging our students to be themselves and explore their individuality. We want all of our students to flourish and feel supported to follow their dreams, creating experiences and memories that last a lifetime.

Nurture

We welcome every student with open arms into our LBA family. We look after their individual gifts and talents, nurturing them to achieve their goals and create lifelong memories for them to cherish forever.

We give all our students their time to shine, in whatever way they want to. We promote positive and kind behaviour in everything that we do together, helping our students to understand the importance of a hard working attitude and being the best possible version of themselves.

Christie Gowans

Director

Christie was inspired to start La Belle Arts in 2016 after a successful performing career on stage, TV, in film and in music videos and a desire to inspire children to explore their creativity through dance and performance. She trained at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts in London.

Christie has a wealth of experience as a teacher, choreographer and director – choreographing the 2016 production of Oliver! at the Edinburgh Playhouse with Stage Experience and for the renowned Rosie Kay Dance Company’s Production of ‘5 Soldiers’.
She believes in the power of the Performing Arts and its ability to shape young lives, and she created La Belle Arts to bring the joy of performing to as many people as possible.

Eleanor Robertson

Teacher

Eleanor teaches a variety of styles at our LBA branches. Her professional training in 2009 at The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance before completing her training at Performing Arts Studio Scotland in Edinburgh. Throughout her training, Eleanor developed a passion for choreography and contemporary dance, creating pieces based on her personal experiences and passions in life.

Eleanor has always loved performing and has had many opportunities within the industry performing in the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland, Move It, Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013/14. Her passion for performing and choreographing led her to inspire the next generation of young dancers.

Eleanor has completed a Masters in Dance Science and Education at the University of Edinburgh, allowing her to gain vital new skills within the world of teaching and a wealth of experience in nursery, primary and secondary contexts.

Eleanor loves teaching and inspiring all her students to realise their full potential through the performing arts.

Julie Somerville

Teacher

Julie began her professional training at Dance Studio Scotland in Glasgow during 2012. During these years she gained her NC, HNC and HND Dance Artist qualifications, choreographing pieces based on technology and current social issues. She later completed her training at Performing Arts Studio Scotland in Edinburgh during 2017/2018, gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Dance. Julie watched her passion grow for dance throughout these years and developed a love for contemporary dance alongside jazz and ballet.

Julie has had a wide range of experience within the performing arts industry, including being a member of Unearthed Dance Company – an Edinburgh based contemporary dance company.

Julie has also performed at platforms such as Go Dance, Dancefest, Pulse 2013-2016, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Horizons Dance Platform.
Julie loves being part of the La Belle Arts family and watching her dancers grow their skills and confidence!

Nikki Horsburgh

Teacher

Nikki has always had a love for the arts and from a young age visited the Playhouse Theatre in her hometown of Edinburgh aspiring to perform within musical theatre. Nikki was offered a place at the renowned Urdang Academy in London where she was trained professionally and gained her BA Honours in Professional Musical Theatre and Dance.

Since graduating, she has been lucky enough to have a vast career in the industry; working in touring musical productions and television shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, BBC One Show, BBC Pitch Battle, Wannabe UK Tour and The Brit Awards. She has also travelled the world as a Singer Dancer with Carnival Cruise Lines USA, where she discovered a true passion for travel and culture alongside musical theatre.

Throughout her eight years of living in London, Nikki gained a wealth of knowledge and experience teaching and running a school in Hampstead, choreographing for large production shows throughout London and working within casting at a production company.

Recently returning to Edinburgh, Nikki has decided to take on an MA in Media Management to expand her skills and knowledge in the media field. The fantastic opportunity of getting to work with the talented students at LBA allows Nikki to share her passion, expertise and experience with the next generation of performers. Nikki loves to help students develop and thrives on inspiring all of her students to work hard and dream big!

Savanna McNaughton

Teacher

Savannah started dancing when she was 2 years old at a local dance school, and went into further training when she was 18. She trained for 3 years at Dance For All in Edinburgh, where she gained her HND in professional dance performance.

She has been trained in a variety of dance styles, including jazz, commercial and ballet, and has performed in many shows, including with the commercial dance group ‘Twisted Perfection’.

After graduating in 2019, she became a dance teacher whilst also gaining further qualifications in acrobatic arts. She absolutely loves teaching her students and sharing her passion for dance.

Hannah

Assistant

Miss Hannah is our teaching assistant at LBA – and is a much loved member of our LBA Family. Miss Hannah is currently studying for our Dance degree at the prestigious PASS college in Edinburgh. She adores working with our LBA stars and is developing her craft every step of the way
